Sustainability
Penrith Stadium is being designed and built to meet 5 Star Green Star standards, representing Australian best practice in sustainable building design.
This rating recognises buildings that go beyond minimum requirements to reduce environmental impact, improve comfort for users, and deliver long-term value for the community.
Sustainability initiatives include:
- Energy efficiency: LED field lighting with a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours reduces energy use (up to 38% in energy savings) and maintenance needs. Smart lighting controls ensure lights are only used when needed.
- Water efficiency: Rainwater tanks will capture and reuse water to reduce consumption and support sustainable operations.
- Sustainable materials: Materials are selected to reduce environmental impact, including low-emission finishes and responsibly sourced timber.
- Reuse and recycling: Old stadium seats were reused or recycled, helping reduce waste and keep materials out of landfill.
